How to Hatch Eggs in Impossible Animals
The verified egg-hatching walkthrough: free a pen slot, place the egg, wait the countdown, open it, and identify your star-rated hybrid.
Eggs in Impossible Animals don't hatch in your inventory — they hatch at your pen. Once you're holding an egg, carry it to the pen where your animals live, make sure a slot is free, and place the egg in the spot where eggs sit while they hatch. A countdown runs on it, you open the egg when the countdown ends, and out comes a hybrid that the game has already fused and named for you. A common egg finished in 17 seconds in one recorded run; an 11-star egg took about a minute and a half.
An egg only starts hatching once it's placed in the pen
Owning an egg is just the first step — the hatching itself happens in the same area your hybrids live. The pen has a dedicated spot for eggs, separate from the animal slots: one player, after finding his new fusion wouldn't fit among his animals, points to the adjacent area and explains, "Here is where the eggs stay." Placed eggs sit there visibly while they count down, and you can hatch more than one at a time — one player put two eggs up together and watched which would finish first.
How to hatch an egg, step by step
- Have an egg. The way eggs are seen entering players' hands is as battle loot: beat a stage and you pick one reward from three options, and an egg can be that pick ("Oh, we get to choose, everyone, there are three options. This one is an egg — oh, I'll take the egg."). One player notes rewards get better as stages get harder. For other ways to stock up, see how to get eggs in Impossible Animals.
- Head to your pen. This is where your animals are kept, and where hatching happens.
- Free a slot if the pen is full. A full pen blocks the egg. One player found every slot taken and had to send a four-star animal away first: "our slots are already full. So I'll have to remove some animals from here. Only then can the egg be placed." Don't overthink the removal — the official listing lists upgrading your pen as a way to grow your collection.
- Place the egg in the pen. Bring it to the egg spot and set it down ("I'll place the egg here. Placed it."). When the egg is sitting in the pen, the hatch has started — one player momentarily lost track of his ("Where did the egg go?") before finding it right where he left it.
- Wait out the countdown. The wait scales with the egg's tier — recorded times are below.
- Open the egg when the timer runs out. In the recorded runs, players open the egg as the last seconds tick away ("Let me open it now that there are only a few seconds left"). Whatever's inside is already assembled — "Oh, it fuses them for us, guys." If you don't immediately spot the newcomer, look around the pen area; one player briefly thought nothing came out before finding his cheetacrab.
How long does an egg take to hatch?
Only two hatch times have been recorded so far, from gameplay runs:
| Egg | Recorded time to open | What hatched |
|---|---|---|
| Common-level egg | 17 seconds | A wolf-monkey (monkey + wolf) |
| 11-star egg (comes pre-fused) | About a minute and a half | A dragonfly-human |
The wait grows with the egg's tier, but no other tiers have measured times — treat the countdown your own egg shows as the source of truth, and recheck after game updates. The game also sells a "2x Egg Growth Speed" gamepass (R$ 467), which confirms egg growth is a real, timed wait; what exactly the pass changes isn't documented, so check it in-game before buying.
Identifying the hybrid that hatched
The result is easy to recognize because the game names it after its ingredients and gives it a star rating. Observed hatches produced a wolf-monkey, a cheetacrab, an eight-star tricertank ("a tank plus a triceratops") and an 11-star dragonfly-human; another player's 10-star egg turned out to be a T-Rex mixed with a tank. Note that you don't choose the outcome — the eggs seen in play come pre-fused, so an 11-star egg can be a complete mystery until it opens. Eggs are one of two routes to hybrids: "you can get animals with eggs or you can make your own fusion." If you'd rather build combinations yourself, see how to fuse hybrids.

What to do after the hatch
A freshly hatched hybrid works like any other: put it in your pen, where hybrids earn money for you, and send it to the treadmill to level up — which also matters if you benched an animal to make room for the egg. If you're still early in the game, the beginner guide ties the whole loop together.
