How to Train Hybrids in Impossible Animals
Get a hybrid onto the treadmill in Impossible Animals, run beside it to raise its level, and confirm the gain on the hybrid's level number. Includes session limits and speed modifiers.
To train a hybrid in Impossible Animals, take the hybrid you want to level to the treadmill in your base, get on the treadmill with it, and run. The hybrid will not run by itself — recorded players are blunt about it: "this guy won't run alone. I have to run with it. Only then will it run." As soon as you both run, the hybrid's XP starts climbing, and the level number shown on the hybrid rises while you keep going. When the level is where you want it, click to step off.
Where training fits in the loop
Training is the step that follows creating and housing hybrids. The official Roblox how-to-play lays out the loop: fuse animals to create hybrids, "Fill your pen with hybrids that earn money," and "🏃 Train your hybrids on the treadmill to level up." The treadmill sits in your base next to the pen, and it is an upgradable facility — "⬆️ Upgrade your pen and treadmill to grow your collection."
That means the only real prerequisite is owning a hybrid, which you create by fusing two animals. Recorded sessions trained a cheetah-plus-fox "fox-cheetah," a cheetah-plus-T-Rex fusion, a turtle-plus-rhino "rhinoturtle," and a tank-plus-triceratops "tricertank." If you don't have a hybrid yet, the Impossible Animals how to fuse hybrids guide covers that step first.
One expectation to set before you spend time running: levels are a separate track from the stars and $/s income on a hybrid's card. In the one recorded check, a hybrid that went from Lv. 1 to Lv. 506 on the treadmill still showed 10 stars and $429/s afterward. Training raises the level, not the income.
How to start a training session
- Have the hybrid you want to train. Any hybrid works; recorded runs ranged from a fresh level-1 rhinoturtle to an "18-level one."
- Go to the treadmill in your base. It is a named facility, listed beside the pen in the official game description, and one recorded player found it right after an upgrade appeared in the base.
- Bring the specific hybrid you want to level to the treadmill. Recorded players picked a single unit on the spot — "I'm thinking of making the 18-level one run on this" — or walked back to the animal they wanted: "Let me go back here to the cheetah... Cheetah there, and the little treadmill." Another player parked a brand-new rhinoturtle at the treadmill area "so he can gain more XP." The exact control that makes a hybrid follow you is not shown in any recorded session, but every observed session ends the same way: the chosen hybrid positioned at the treadmill with the player beside it.
- Get on the treadmill with the animal. As one player put it after discovering the setup: "I have to get on the treadmill with the animal, right, for it to evolve."
- Run. The hybrid only runs while you run alongside it — this is the step people miss, because leaving the animal there on its own does nothing.
- Confirm the session started, then step off when done. If the hybrid's XP is increasing, training is running. To end it: "Let me click here to get off the treadmill."
How to confirm the level-up
The gain is visible in two stages, both on the hybrid itself:
- During the run, the XP climbs — "its XP is increasing" is how one player confirmed the session had actually started.
- As you keep running, the level number displayed on the hybrid rises. Recorded runs show a cheetah-fox "already there, look, at level three" after a session, another hybrid that "has crossed level 10," one hybrid tracked from Lv. 1 to Lv. 506 on the treadmill, and a boosted session where the counter jumped from level 12 to 42, then 70, then 77 in quick succession.
A complete training action is: run with the hybrid until its displayed level reaches your target, then step off — one player left exactly that way, planning to duel in The Wild "when he reaches level two."
What training changes — and what it doesn't
- It is active-only. Leveling continues only while you are on the treadmill running with the hybrid; stepping off ends the session. Whether anything accrues while you are logged off has not been shown, so plan sessions as active time.
- It changes the level, not the card. The one recorded check — a hybrid taken from Lv. 1 to Lv. 506 — still showed 10 stars and $429/s. Treat training as a strength tool, not an income boost.
- No cap has been documented. Recorded levels run from 1 up to 29,090, and one boosted counter was still climbing with the player noting "I have no idea when it's going to stop." That is an observation, not proof a ceiling doesn't exist — but no source shows one.
- Levels carry into combat. A level-22 hybrid taken to The Wild dealt 12 damage per hit — "Now, level 22 should technically be strong, right? Let's see. Oh, it's dealing 12 damage."
Speed modifiers seen in recorded play
Three modifiers that speed up training appear in recorded play. None is required — the plain treadmill levels hybrids on its own — and only the boosts have an observed result attached:
| Speed modifier | What is recorded | What is not established |
|---|---|---|
| Treadmill upgrades | "You have upgraded the treadmill a lot. Upgraded it to level three," noted in a session where a pet hit level two while running | Upgrade prices and how much each level speeds training |
| Ember spell (shop item) | The shop label reads "Ember spell, increases training level" | Its cost and actual effect size — it was not tested |
| 2x / 4x level boosts (Robux) | Bought for 3 and 7 Robux; immediately after, the level climbed 12 → 42 → 70 → 77 in one session | Verified multipliers beyond that single boosted session, and Robux prices can change |
If you want faster sessions, the boosts are the only modifier with a demonstrated result — but the recorded base-rate runs (level three, crossing level 10) show the treadmill works fine without spending anything.
Where to go next
Once you can run a session on command — hybrid at the treadmill, you running beside it, level number climbing — the follow-up questions are what those levels actually change and where training sits in the bigger picture. The Impossible Animals hybrid levels guide covers the level track in detail, and the Impossible Animals progression guide shows how fusing, pens, training, and The Wild fit together.
