How to Rescue Animals in Impossible Animals
Rescue animals in Impossible Animals by battling through The Wild with a strong pet. The confirmed route, pet prep, and what the game doesn't show yet.
Rescuing an animal in Impossible Animals is not a pickup quest or a talk-to-NPC errand. The official game description states the loop plainly: "Battle through The Wild and rescue new animals to fuse." In practice you take one pet into The Wild, defeat the creatures there, and the new animal arrives from that fight and progression. In one recorded run, the player killed a skeleton in The Wild and the next moment said "And from here we got the owl" — no rescue prompt, NPC or claim menu appeared at any point in the footage.
What rescuing actually is
The rescue action is welded to combat and progression. The game's official "How to Play" list puts it between training ("Train your hybrids on the treadmill to level up") and eggs ("Collect and hatch eggs to discover rare hybrids"), and fan fusion databases read it the same way: battling through The Wild is where new fusion parents come from. That matters because rescued animals are not trophies — they are new breeding stock for the fusion loop: fuse stronger hybrids, fill your pen with money-earners, upgrade, and push further for more animals.
The rescue route, step by step
This sequence comes from one complete, recorded run in The Wild:
- Train a fighting pet on the treadmill. Treadmill runs level pets up, and upgrading the treadmill improves that training — in the run, a level-3 treadmill brought a pet up ("Make it run a bit on the treadmill... Upgraded it to level three. And look, this has become level two"). Level translates directly into damage: early hits in the session dealt 5 damage, while a level-22 pet later dealt 12 per hit. The training loop is the real prerequisite here.
- Pick your strongest unit to take forward. The player chose a 78-star pet because "I have to go much further" and expected The Wild to be dangerous. No star count, level or task is documented as a gate for entering The Wild — strength is a practical requirement shown by the run, not a stated unlock condition.
- Advance and fight the Wild's creatures. The player engaged several enemies at once and focused a skeleton ("We need to kill this skeleton"). One warning from the same footage: taking an under-levelled pet into stacked fights drains health fast — "my health has gone down... I'm fighting both of them at once. This was a huge mistake on my part." Fight battles you can win, one group at a time; the battle guide covers the fighting itself in depth.
- Win the fight — the animal follows. When the skeleton died, the owl arrived from that progression with no extra claim step shown. The footage can't distinguish whether the owl was the rescue itself or a drop accompanying it, but either way it came from the kill.
Where rescued animals end up — and what's not shown
Be prepared for one honest gap: no source shows the delivery step for a rescued animal. The only demonstrated handover in the run is for eggs — with the pen full, the player had to free space first ("our slots are already full. So I'll have to remove some animals from here. Only then can the egg be placed") and then manually placed the egg in a slot. For the rescued owl and turtle-style rewards, nothing shows whether the animal auto-adds to your pen, unlocks in a collection, or needs a placement action. There is an "Now an owl has been unlocked" line in the footage, and rescued owls are treated as ordinary fusion stock afterwards — but that particular owl followed a cheetah-and-fox merge, so it doesn't demonstrate what happens to the one you rescue. The practical takeaway: after each kill, watch what you receive, and if your pen slots are full, clear one before you push on.
Repeating rescues: what one run shows
Rescue rewards appear at stages as you push deeper. Past the skeleton, the player found "one more reward, a turtle reward" — visibly contingent on winning the next fight ("Now I don't know if I will be able to kill it or not"). So the repeatable earning route is the same loop as the first rescue: keep training, keep advancing, win each staged fight. Three caveats from the same session:
- Rewards can be left behind — the player later realised "I didn't even pick up the Turtle... there was a Turtle back there with the Raccoon." Collect as you go.
- Not every Wild reward is confirmed to be an animal. The run also produced an egg, and Wild creatures like turtles and skeletons double as fusion parents themselves, so a "turtle reward" isn't proven to always be a rescued animal.
- The enemy order and reward schedule along The Wild come from a single recorded run, so treat the skeleton-to-owl sequence as a proven example, not a fixed map. If you can't enter The Wild at all — one player notes "New reward in the wild, but I can't even go to the wild" — no documented threshold explains that limit yet; the Wild overview tracks what's known about the area.
What to do with a rescued animal
After the run, the player returned to the pen to train and fuse the gains — an owl merged with a dragonfly produced a Golden Shiny earning $73, and the plan became "you merge this Owl with everyone." That's the point of the whole route: every rescue is a new parent for crazier combinations. Once your animal is in hand, check the animal directory to see what you're working with, then head to the fusion guide to put it to work. Eggs are the other acquisition route if you want more parents while you grind Wild fights.
