Impossible Animals Beginner Guide – First-Session Walkthrough
A first-session Impossible Animals walkthrough: fuse two unlocked animals, save your hybrid to start pen income, train on the treadmill, and fight The Wild.
Impossible Animals opens straight onto its fusion screen — there is no tutorial quest before your first hybrid. Recorded first sessions, including one that starts on a brand-new account, show a new player reaching the whole core loop within minutes. Here is the verified first-session path:
- Pick two unlocked parents. The opening screen asks for a father and a mother. Any two unlocked picks fuse on the spot; entries you don't own yet show a padlock and cannot be chosen.
- Read the result, then press Save Hybrid. You'll see the hybrid's name, both parents, a star count and a $/s income. Saving sends it to your pen, where it starts earning that $/s automatically.
- Run the treadmill with it. A hybrid only gains XP while you run alongside it. Levels make it stronger for fighting; stars set its income.
- Take the game's prompt to the jungle. Right after your first fusion, the game tells you to go to the jungle and choose a hybrid to take. Battles cost HP, and every stage you beat pays one reward chosen from three options — including eggs.
- Reinvest your income. Pen and treadmill upgrades cost in-game money, and selling spare hybrids is the extra way to fund them.
That's the entire loop: fuse → save → earn → train → fight → reinvest. The sections below walk through each step as it actually plays out, plus the gates that decide when the next activity opens up: padlocked parents, stage strength checks, a free pen slot for eggs, a five-slot pen, and money-cost upgrades.
Your first minute: the fusion picker
The first thing the game asks you to do is fuse. The screen reads "Choose a father": pick one unlocked animal, then a second as the mother, and the hybrid is created immediately. In one recorded session, cheetah + fox produced a 6-star "Chefox" seconds after the player spawned in. Parents don't have to be ordinary animals, either — recorded pairs include skeleton + crab and a war tank + triceratops, so creatures and objects all count as fusion material.
Anything with a padlock is a parent you don't own yet. One recorded player tried to select the Car and was refused. Locked entries open up later through Wild rescues and eggs, which is why those two activities matter even though nothing in minute one requires them.
The starting hub is compact: in the recordings, the fusion platform, pen, treadmill and jungle entrance are all a short walk apart, so you'll naturally pass each station during your first session.
The result screen and your pen
Before committing a fusion, the result screen tells you everything that matters: the hybrid's name, its two parents, a star count and its income in $/s. A label such as "Golden Shiny" above the stars means you rolled a rare version. From here you have three options — Save Hybrid sends it to your pen where it starts earning automatically, New Fusion returns to the picker, and Explore World closes the screen.
Two clarifications save beginners confusion later. First, there is no collection step: once saved, a hybrid pays out its $/s on its own while it sits in the pen. Second, income is not battle strength — the $/s decides how fast a hybrid earns in your pen, and it is not a rating of how well it fights.
A recorded opening pair worth checking for
One recording begins on a brand-new account, and its very first fusion popped the "The First Hybrid" badge. That player fused Red Panda + Giraffe and got Redpaffe: 6 stars and $15/s. Their next try, Warthog + Venus Fly Trap, produced Venusflyrthog with only 3 stars and $2/s. So if Red Panda and Giraffe are both in your starting picker, that pair is a recorded, much-better-than-random opening. It's one comparison on one fresh account, though — a good first pick, not a proven best fusion.
The treadmill: run with your hybrid
Training is usable in your first few minutes and has one interaction requirement: the animal only gains XP while you get on the treadmill and run alongside it. "This guy won't run alone. I have to run with it," as one recorded player put it. You can click to step off at any time, and recorded players levelled hybrids within their first minutes this way.
Keep the two progression tracks separate in your head. Stars come from fusion quality and set your $/s income — one recorded hybrid went from Lv. 1 to Lv. 506 on the treadmill and its card still showed 10 stars and $429/s, so training never raised its listed income. What levels do change is fighting, as the next section shows. For deeper training details, see the guide on how to train hybrids.
Around the treadmill you'll also notice purchasable extras: a Double Fusion stand, a camouflage shop, a charm shop, and an Ember spell described as increasing training level. One recording also bought training-speed boosts for Robux — 2x for 3 and 4x for 7 — after which the animal's level rocketed from the teens into the 70s. These are optional purchases, not part of the core loop.
The Wild: your first fights, rewards and rescues
Immediately after you save your first hybrid, the game prompts the next step: go to the jungle and choose a hybrid to take. Every recorded first session followed this prompt, and none shows The Wild being entered before fusing — treat it as the game's intended next step rather than a confirmed hard requirement. (The jungle is the first area of The Wild, the game's battle zone.)
Three things define your first fights:
- Battles cost HP. Your health drops as you fight, and one recorded player found no way to heal mid-run — so retreating and coming back is a normal, safe response, not a failure.
- Stages are strength-gated. A recorded player whose hybrids were too weak hit "we can't get to stage 2 yet?", backed off, fused and trained stronger hybrids, and later pushed through the same stages. If a stage walls you, the answer is treadmill time and better fusions, not retries.
- Every beaten stage pays. You choose one reward from three options, and the rewards get better as stages get harder. Recorded options include animals (an owl) and eggs.
The Wild also feeds your fusion picker directly: recorded players unlocked a turtle, a skeleton and an owl in Wild areas and immediately fused them — one turtle + rhino became the 5-star Rhinoturtle. That's the loop in miniature: fuse → fight → rescue → fuse again. When you're ready to go deeper, the Impossible Animals battle guide covers fighting in detail, and how to rescue animals explains unlocking new parents.
Eggs: ready-made hybrids that need a free slot
Stage rewards can be eggs, and eggs are unusual: they hatch into already-fused hybrids, not raw parents. A recorded common-level egg opened in 17 seconds into a ready-made monkey + wolf hybrid; other recorded hatches produced a cheetacrab and an 8-star tricertank. Egg labels state their range — a Common Egg showed "3–5 ★ when hatched" and an Epic Egg "9–11 ★ when hatched" — making eggs a second source of new parents alongside Wild rescues. For more, see how to hatch eggs.
One gate applies: an egg can only be placed in the pen once a slot is free. A recorded player with full slots had to remove a four-star animal before the egg would go in. That's because the recorded pen holds just five animals — a newly fused skeletmonkey didn't fit in the same session. When you hit the cap, free space by selling or removing hybrids, or upgrade the pen.
What funds your upgrades
Stars set your earning rate, and recorded results show $/s climbing steeply with star count:
| Stars | Recorded income |
|---|---|
| 3 | $1–2/s |
| 4 | $3–5/s |
| 5 | $7–9/s |
| 6 | $10–18/s |
| 7 | $27–42/s |
| 8 | $75–82/s |
| 9 | $106–133/s |
| 10 | $293–410/s |
These are results recorded across a handful of sessions — a realistic picture of what fusions have paid, not official rates. The takeaway holds either way: a stronger fusion result earns meaningfully faster in the pen, which is why re-fusing for better stars pays off.
Your money then buys progression. With two hybrids saved, the game itself prompted a recorded player to level up the pen, after which levelling the animals became available too. Another spent 45,000 in-game money on improvements and took the treadmill to level three. Selling is the extra lever: one player sold four low-income hybrids to fund upgrades — while being warned not to sell everything, "otherwise nothing will be left." The Impossible Animals money guide covers earning in depth, and the pen guide plus pen upgrades pages cover the base itself.
Shinies and Double Fusion
Two systems extend the loop once your first session is rolling:
- Golden Shiny rolls. The shiny outcome is rolled per fusion, not fixed to the pairing: one recorded owl + dragonfly fusion produced a Golden Shiny $73 hybrid, and re-rolling the same pair gave $16. An underwhelming result is worth a re-roll.
- Double Fusion. This merges two already-saved hybrids into a stronger one, at a recorded cost of 1 Fusion Token. In one session, a golden T-Rex/flytrap combined with a dolphin/flytrap — four species in one body — produced a 10-star hybrid that then cleared the first Wild stage with ease.
Neither is needed in your first minutes, but both show where the loop is heading: your collection compounds.
Where to go next by player goal
Once the first-session basics are complete, pick your next page by what you want:
- Stronger hybrids: start with the Impossible Animals fusion guide, then browse the best fusions once you care about optimising pairs.
- A fuller, richer pen: the pen guide and money guide.
- More parents: how to rescue animals or how to hatch eggs.
- Deeper Wild runs: the battle guide and how to train hybrids.
- The long game: the Impossible Animals progression guide maps what comes after your first session.
The recorded sessions sum the game up themselves: "We need to fuse animals to make them stronger so we can advance through the stages." Fuse, save, earn, train, fight — and let each stage's rewards fund the next round of fusing.
